Ulysse Martel is a designer developing products from innovative objects to sport equipment.
Born in 1989 in Toulon, France he graduated in Cabinet Making from the École Boulle in Paris and focused on historical crafts from oil paintings to marquetry. Never taking anything for granted and definitive, Ulysse thus developed a curiosity for manufacturing that led him to product design.
He then enrolled in ECAL and graduated with a Master Degree in Product Design with mention. After a residency in Hong Kong he started carrying out research with an ultimate goal of merging design with the sportive environment. He pursues design at all levels whether on tailoring, technical or graphic levels always seeking performance.
Staying curious to everything, meeting manufacturers, discovering new materials from ceramic to 3D knitted textile, Ulysse always intends to challenge himself to find the appropriate approach for a project.
Through self-initiated projects, collaborations or gallery commissions context he completes creative solutions with a strong emphasis on aesthetics and emotional impact for a honest, efficient and timeless design.
